Foraging for food has become a fun and important part of our homesteading experience this year. One of our recent (and tasty) finds has been oyster mushrooms. They sure are a delicious find and I love that I can find them wandering around our woods after we’ve had some rain. And bringing home some food sure is a great reward after a walk in the woods!
What did I do with these lovely oyster mushrooms? I simply sautéed them!
- Coconut oil
- Black pepper
- Sea salt
- Fresh garlic
These delish little ‘shrooms will cook up quick and leave you begging for more, so be sure to pick all you can find! After you ensure they are clean (see our cleaning instructions here), use a knife to slice them up, or break them apart with your fingers. Then simply sautée them in a spoonful of coconut oil, along with a few cloves of fresh garlic. Season them with a ground black pepper and sea salt and you’re ready to enjoy them!
